Hello

After seeing joeonepack on hardwarecanucks start to do this, I went to home depot and picked up a sheet of acrylic and try it on my own. I originally just planned to replace the window that came stock on the case, but thought this would be cooler.

It attached magnetically so it is easy to put on and off. I also had no experience doing anything like this and did it in a night so anybody could do this.

I'll give you this picture now as a teaser until I get some more pictures. Just to make sure you know, the window is on in the picture. If you have any questions let me know.

Here is a picture with the window off that shows the magnetic strips on the border

The window is nowhere near as reflective in real life as is shown in the picture

This last one makes the magnetic strips stand out more than they do but it accurately shows how clear the window is

I hope you like it! I will write up a little guide soon

My future plans are to ditch the magnets and use nuts and bolts to keep it in place. Stay tuned!

Yoo you are the best. If you put a guide I might actually do it. One question, how much is this acrylic from HDepot?

I needed a 19" x 21" sheet to do this. The closest to that is 18" x 24" for 13 dollars. The next closest it 30 x 32 which I got for 30 dollars because I plan on using it for other projects

What do you cut the acrylic with? Dremel?

I used a table saw when I did mine, though a jigsaw would do the job as well (and Dremmel here and there.)

I used a utility blade but I do not recommend it. You can get acrylic cutting tools for pretty cheap. Or if you have a jigsaw or table saw it would be better to use that

Wow how thin is this thing to be cut with a utility knife?

0.08" or 2mm. It didn't cut all the way through with utility knife but it was enough that when I bent it, the window snapped along the line

Putting up more pics now

Yeah it didn't turn out how I wanted it to but It looked pretty cool. I used a Nikon D3000 to take these pictures. It looks so weird because it is taken near a huge like that is used for growing plants indoors. Thats also why you can see the reflections of plants in the window.

Could be better. Try using semen to replace the magnets.

Acts as a great Glue!

-Best wishes :D-
