I know this might not be the answer you are looking for but, Corsair will be more for a gamer where as AKG and ATH will more for audiophiles, or people looking for music/production sound. Gaming headphones normally increase bass which can muddy up other audio if you are looking for that.

Yes, I understand that. But the fact that these two audiophile grade headphones are cheaper than the gaming one (both are $30-40, while HS50 is $50), makes me wonder are they really better than the HS50. From the reviews they said that the K52 and M20X are "decent" while the HS50 is praised by the reviewers. The "decent" here is a decent for an audiophile grade or decent as a headset, and the "really ood" quality for the HS50 here is "really good" for a gaming headset. So, should I pick a decent audiophile grade headset or a really good gaming headset?

 I'm a bit confused.

K52 > M20x > HS50.

But I'd probably go Superlux and up.

If it does need to be a headset, I'd recommend the Cooler Maset MH 751 or MH 752, alternatively the HyperX Cloud X, Pro, II or Alpha.

CM MH751/752 are Takastar Pro82 while the Clouds are Takstar Pro80.

Pro82 have 40mm drivers but sound better, Pro80 are a bit older and have 53mm drivers.

I had the impression you were looking under $50.

Would HD6688B be okay? It has really good reviews, but is it better than everything you listed?

...has anyone in this thread actually listened to the HS50 or M20X? The HS50 is impressive sound-wise (especially given its $25 price tag in the US) but fails at out-of-the-box ergonomics and microphone tuning. The M20X by contrast is a pretty bad headphone that I probably wouldn't buy at any price. It does everything but midbass poorly.

Placed in an arbitrary rating scale:

HS50: Sound 5, 6.5 with EQ; Comfort 3 for large heads, 5 for small heads, 7 for both with headband tweaks

M20X: Sound 2, 3 with EQ; Comfort 4

Rtings measurements of both. As usual, it's best to learn how to interpret the measurements for yourself instead of relying on the given scale.

I have not listened to the AKGs, but based on their measurements and how abysmally their similarly tuned cousins the K92s perform I wouldn't hold my breath.

IMO if you need a closed-back and live in the US, the HS50 is hard to compete with given the price. As you're in Indonesia, I'd suggest looking into the pricing of the Takstar Pro 82.

I own a pair of M20X that I got from a Sweetwater Bundle with my AT2035 Mic. I would not recommend them. I am currently using them, and notice a significant boost in mids and highs and lacking anything in the lows. I prefer a balanced sound stage with a hair more bass.

As I am waiting to get a BeyerDynamic 770DT, they will do for now, but thats about it.

Sorry for the late reply, but Takstar Pro 82 is around $130 here, that's kinda too expensive for me, I'm still a college student.
