Asrock B450 Steel Legend

I'm planning to buy the B450 Steel Legend but some people are saying that the vrm temps are bad and I really don't have much knowledge about vrms and stuff so is it really that bad?
I'm planning to pair it with a Ryzen 5 3600.  And also what is the standard vrm temps for B450s?

The steel legend is more expensive than the Pro4, but has a worse power delivery solution. The Pro4 and Pro4 F use a 6 phase under a decent heat sink so you might as well get the better and cheaper board.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

It's okay for a R5 3600 due to its low power draw, but I wont recommend it myself. Asrock board's VRM overtemperature shutdown/throttling feature also seems wonky, a big issue on a board that really needs it.

Good ones run in the 80s, mediocre ones can reach 100C. Max is 125C as far as components go, tho some boards throttle before that.

It's a fat 3 phase, not a 6. Also worse efficiency than Steel Legend's "less high side, more low side and more phases" tactic.

There are only 2 bundles available in my place.
Ryzen 5 3600 + Asrock B450 Steel Legend for $315 and Ryzen 5 3600 + MSI B450 Gaming Pro Carbon for $380.
Also I'm planning to reuse some of the parts in my other PC one of which is the PSU a Seasonic SII520w PSU. Is that enough for the Ryzen 5 3600 and 1660 Ti?

  • 3 weeks later...

I was planning to get a Steel Legend myself, but a couple of friends of mine who got them said they had problems about the VRMs heating up so badly that they added additional intake/outtake fans to their cases to dissipate the heat.

The deep blue sky is infinitely high and crystal clear.
