Hello everyone,

First off, let's get this out of the way : I live in Canada, and I have a budget of about 1000-1200$.

I'm looking for a new laptop for :

- Programming (nothing particular, but good processing power would be great for faster compiling)

- Web browsing

- General boring stuff (ex: Microsoft Office)

This is what I want :

- Light-weight

- Good battery power (at least 5+hours)

- 15'' display if possible, but willing to settle for 13'' if the price difference is unjustified

I don't have any particular preference in terms of brand, look, etc.

I'd like a Mac, it's pretty, nice display, simple OS that I like to use, but I'd be more than happy with a 'regular' laptop running Windows. ;)

Not for gaming at all, I already have a desktop for that.

Oh and by the way, not a chromebook. Nothing against them, but I just can't be in a wireless area all the time.

Thank you all for your help and suggestions :)

Macbook Air with Windows installed? Its great for the price if you can get it with the 15% student discount.

I dont know anything else that will be light weight, and that has a good battery life.

Wait for the ASUS Transformer Book Duet TD300 to come out. You can get it with an i7, 4GB of RAM, and it can become a Windows 8 Pro tablet, an Android 4.3 tablet, an Android 4.3 Laptop, and a Windows 8.1 Pro Laptop. Starting price is $600.00
