What's a good cpu that's still worth buying USED? I'm on a budget and the market for used cpu where I'm from is relatively cheap, I think building my first system with used parts is the way to go right now. My friend got a Xeon E5 2667 for $5 but I assume the motherboard to pair that with would be on the mid-range side

If you want to build something on a budget, try to find a workstation with a 2nd gen i5, then slap a used RX 570 and a 240GB SSD, you should be able to find those for real cheap depending on your location.

A budget and location would help to help you! ;)

a chinese X79 board isn't that expensive, so you can get that and some ECC DDR3 to save money.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X Heatsink: Gelid Phantom Black GPU: Palit RTX 3060 Ti Dual RAM: Corsair DDR4 2x8GB 3000Mhz mobo: Asus X570-P case: Fractal Design Define C PSU: Superflower Leadex Gold 650W

There's a computer set actually with dell optiplex like the $69 gaming pc featured in LTT and it comes with a mouse, keyboard and a monitor for $100 but it has a core 2 duo

Don’t bother with those anymore. You can get an optiplex 790 MT with a sandy bridge i5 or i7 for about 80$ on its own. They’re the poor mans gaming PC base right now.

Replace the PSU and add a gpu, or just use a sub 75w gpu, and you have a 1080p gaming machine for under 250$.

Yeah I figured, that core 2 duo just won't cut it. It's tough to pick parts if you're in a tight budget
