Hello :)

I currently have an laptop that i use as an main computer, but i also updated my old stationary computer that i hid away in the closet with an teamviewer connection and network only.
I am using it as an own server that host some minor stuff for a small business i have as well as an hub for backing up my content from the laptop at regular intervals.
However i am finding it hard to share a couple of drives i have in that computer across the network. I have gone trough the windows 10 share folder settings a million times on both units but cannot get it to work for some strange reason, even tho being on the same network.

So i was hoping there may be some easy 3rd party software out there to easily share the drives?
What would be awesome is to get this to work across internet also when i am away from home, simply to have them pop up as network drives. But the minimum need is to share them across local network.
Basically what i would like to do is to get the same kind of functions as i have with my wd home cloud device for those familiar with those units :)

Any suggestions? I prefer freeware, but i am also willing to pay some for a good solution.

Thanks and regards.
Daniel

You can just set the drive up as a network drive and connect the other PCs to it, usually with login details. Depending on the OS you use and other settings, this could be a really easy and simple way to do it.

Yeah okey now i feel stupid, i used the network sharing alot before so i could not figure out what where wrong after going true the sharing settings multiple times.
Turns out both computers where set to use public network profiles instead of private.. so got it to work eventually :)
However are there any easy way to share them across the internett as the WD cloud home device does? for use when im away from home?

Try this...

Open Windows Explorer, from the left hand pane select Network, when the Network Location window opens wait a few seconds and at the top a yellow notification should pop up asking you to enable Network Discovery. Click it then click OK.

Now it should discover any network shares automatically and display them in the Network section of explorer.

If that doesn't work make sure both computers are on the same workgroup.

No and you wouldn't want your network drive accessible from the Internet either.

You could use a VPN to achieve this or use SFTP to securely share the drive across the internet however both these methods would require port forwarding.
