Hello,

I built my PC about 3 weeks ago and I have been experiencing some weird issues. During the first couple of weeks of using my PC I was getting the video scheduler internal error BSoD about 2-3 times a day. Also my screen would occasionally go black for a second or two, media would stop playing for a couple of seconds, then the screen would turn back on again and media would resume. I tried updating my BIOS, reinstalling windows entirely, re-installing drivers using DDU, and resetting all my BIOs settings. None of these made any difference.

I looked to Reddit's AMD troubleshooting page for help, I have linked the post below (I have a lot more detail in that post as well!). I ended up disabling A-XMP and changed all my ram settings to auto except for DRAM frequency which I set to 2666. I also preformed a memory stability test to make sure my ram was stable, and the test detected no issues. I thought after doing this, it resulted in less BSoDs and black screens...

However, this week i'm experiencing a new issue; i'm no longer seeing the video scheduler internal error BSoD, instead i'm getting a black screen different to the one mentioned above. Now, the screen goes black and my monitor says that there is no input. I can still hear sound and do things for about 6 seconds, then the PC becomes unresponsive. The fans and LEDs in the case are still on, and when I try to turn off my PC using the power button it does not turn off. I have to wait a while before I can press it again for anything to happen. Also sometimes I boot my PC, and there is no input, so I need to restart it. When I look at the windows reliability report, I get the same "hardware error" I showed in my Reddit post.

Here is the BSoD dump and Performance Monitor Report:

I don't have much time left to return my GPU if it turn out to be faulty, please help!

Here are my specs:

  • x64 Windows, full retail version
  • 3 Weeks old
  • Last installed Windows 2 weeks ago
  • RYZEN 5 3600
  • Sapphire Pulse RX 5700
  • MSI B450 TOMAHAWK (I got this from micro center, on the box it said it was ready for Ryzen 3000)
  • Corsair TXM Gold 550 W
  • GPU Driver: 19.9.2
  • RAM: Crucial Ballistix Sport LT 16 GB DDR4-3000 (BLS2K8G4D30AESBK)
  • SSD: Crucial P1 1 TB M.2-2280 NVME
  • MONITOR: Acer SB230 75 Hz

Here is the Reddit post I made earlier:

I'mma not even read this cause tbh I donnt wanna troubleshoot things right now but straight up if your warrenty ends in 5days just contact them now anyways and explain what is going on. Even if they cant fix the issue or you fix it before them you have a record of attempting to get support for the issue and even if you go over that 5 days they may still honor an RMA because of that.

You say you bought it a couple weeks ago? That makes it seem like its your return period that is ending not your warrenty period, warrenty periods usually last a few years on video cards...

If this is the case (I dunno ive never bought a sapphire product for all I know they have a shit warrenty) contacting newegg wont really do anything they are just gonna tell you to ship it back. Sapphire are the ones to honor warrenty. (at least in NA I know the EU is diffrent concerning these things.)

But to mirror the above if you are within your return window you may as well see if they will replace the card for a new one. It can at least rule out the card being defective. And tbh returning things to stores is usually less of a pain then returning to the manufacter. So yeah I would still get in touch with them while trying to solve the issue.

Alright, I would still like to diagnose the issue if possible. I will contact them today though! Also i'm not sure if I can get a replacement, as Newegg does not have the card in stock right now.

Have you tried using other ports on the card? My 1070 has one DP port that misbehaves sometimes but the other two work just fine.

If I were you, I'd contact Newegg and get a replacement card.

Make sure to quote or tag people, so they get notified.

The card had 3 display ports and 1 HDMI, I only have an HDMI cord available to me right now. Also I don't think it has to do with that because i also lose PC functionality when the screen goes black after a couple seconds.

Thanks for the suggestions to get a replacement card, I will contact Newegg soon. I do still have a week though, so I would like to still try and solve this problem if it is not a hardware issue.

If anyone can help out I would appreciate it greatly!

Also, I was mistaken. My return period ends in 5 days, not the warranty.
