PC VR with phone

Hey there!
Has anyone here experience with programms like riftcat and overall with using your phone as a VR devise on PC?
Tools like Trinus claim that you can use a simple google daydreanm and you oneplus 3t to play subnautica and stuff. What can you guys tell me about it??

Tried something like this a while ago, it can work, but takes a lot of finagling, and having since experienced real VR via Vive, I gotta say it wasnt really worth the wasted effort.

I used RiftCat for a while before getting a rift and found that it was alright. Subnautica was a pretty good experience running it on my 750 Ti. VRChat was also pretty good. I did find it quite annoying sometimes trying to find good VR games that support a regular console controller like an Xbox or Steam one. I also found it quite hard to get fully immersed but other than that I liked using my phone for a VR Headset.

I did use Trinus a very long time ago, and flying in GTA 5 was alright, but i did make me nauseous a lot more quickly than normal VR. So you can try,  but if you get nauseous easily then i don't recommend it.

 

It was also a lot of tinkering with settings to get it to work.

Trinus is pretty cool, got a cheap carboard vr thing with lenses and tried it out in some games. It is cool but not the be all end all. I quickly purchased a Oculus rift tho, I was instantly hooked and needed to experience the real thing.
