Thats not the EPS.. I think its a supplemental PCIE power plug. The EPS is on the other side of the board.

I've had the system running without it in, is it okay to leave it unplugged?

if it works fine without it plugged in, leave it alone. Only plug it in if you're running like 3 way SLI as it will help ensure the socket delivers the 75w of PCIE power needed.

No it's not. CPU power connectors are never 6pin.

This is a 6pin connector for supplying additional power to the PCIe slots. Not necessary, and only really useful if you have multiple graphic cards installed. It helps so that way all the PCIe 12V power (up to 5.5A per slot) isn't drawn through the motherboard 24pin connector, which isn't really designed for high current 12V.

Single graphics card? Completely fine.
Three graphics cards in a mining rig? Maybe plug it in.

Thanks, I only have a RX 570 plugged in so I think it should be fine.
