software raid C drive and usb

Go to solution Solved by Kilrah,

Even if it was possible your machine would become unbelievably slow, USB keys are very inefficient at OS-like loads. They also typically don't have any wear-leveling and would die pretty quickly.

Also you'd only gain 16GB since RAID0 with 2 drives puts half of each file on each drive, so the smallest becomes the limit.

Better to just use the USB key for your files. You can save space on the main drive by disabling hibernation.

I have windows installed on a Chromebook with 16GB internal storage and I have about 1-2GB of free space with nothing installed... Now I have a 64GB low profile USB key I would I like to use in raid 0 with the 16 GB of internal storage. Would this be possible, or will windows not accept it? I know I know raid 0 bad especially with removable drives but until I get my hands on a bigger ssd for it im stuck with this. Unless anyone knows how to make an internal disk show up as a system disk, that might also work.
