Something must be wrong.. GTX670 OC'd to 1200MHz

Rorgash

I overclocked my ZOTAC GTX 670 AMP Edition.. quite high..

Currently running

GPU Clock: 1200MHz

Memory Clock: 7000MHz

Under Heavy load it reached 73Celcius at 47% Fan speed

VCDC 987mV

Board Power Limit 100% (Max 132%)

These numbers seem VERY high when i look at other peoples overclocking of newer cards such as the 780Ti, seeing as this is a old card.

There are some stability issues, but i think thats due to the voltage, i havent changed it yet, currently at VCDC 987mV.

So my question is, are these numbers accurate, and could anyone take a guess at what the mV should be at for these speeds?

Not all chips are the same, the GK104 can have higher clocks as the GK110.

Also, if you adjust your voltage to be sable, your temps will probably go up.

The memory clock seems a bit high to me, but my old 670 went up to around 1200MHz before showing artifacts. I managed to get it past 1300MHz, but it was very unstable.

Seems like you just have a good overclocking card.

I would just run 3Dmark11 and see where your GPU lies compared to the other cards. If its higher then you got lucky and got an awesome card :D

Keep in mind, a 670 running at 1.2GHz and a 780ti at 1.2GHz are two completely different beasts.

yea i know, i might have the speed but not the cuda cores and i think the same bus stats

1200 MHz? Why not. Try different benchmarks, though, such as Valley, Haven or games.

The Vram also could be higher, something like 7200-7300 MHz before it starts to show artifacts and/or crashes (the highest I've seen so far).

I don't think AMP! cards are voltage unlocked so voltage lock is 1.15v if i remember correctly.

Yea, after looking into the voltage(didnt want to mess with it before asking) it was set to 987, and max is 1150, which i have now set it at.

Got some issues with 3DMark, it keeps crashing, probably due to the fact that im currently using Nvidia Surround aswell as a aux monitor. will check this out later today.

1200Mhz on a GTX 670 is pretty average when overclocked.....  Max out your voltage and see what she will really do.

1200mhz isn't very high, I had a 660 Ti at 1375mhz, another at 1340mhz and I was running two in SLI at 1280mhz

yeah a GK104 can do 1200 no problem most of the time :) ive got a 770 running at 1300 and the memory at 8500, without a single artifact, and i reckon i could push the memory more but i see no improvement with it at all

very cool, my biggest issue i think is the loud fans on the Zotac amp edition, above 60% its unbearable even with closed back headphones on :P

I have found The Witcher 2 to be the best stresstest so far that i have, it pushes the card to 100%, (core and memory clock) with a current top temp of about 73, i might be able to push it abit more as the fans are still only at 46% when the temp peaks. and i can run it exactly as long as i want, while having window mode lets me abort and keep an eye on my temps at the same time.

Test it with some of your games just to make sure its stable. It may not explode but it may show some artificing

One thing that you have to keep in mind is that not all gpu's overclock the same. It does suck but it does make sense. Hope you get things under control though.

What programs did you use to flash it with? Did you make your own bios or did you download one? Ive been interested in doing this for a while, but i wasn't having much luck finding a way to do it. I did have a go at modding afterburner but it didn't work :(

I remember using this guide http://www.overclock.net/t/1289489/gtx-600-series-unlocked-voltage-bios-downloads-and-tools. Follow the guide carefully and you shouldn't run into any issues, however bios flashing is very risky so be aware of the risks before doing so.

Thanks. I'll give it a go, i know its risky, but its not my main card anymore so im a bit more willing to try it than i was before.

A scientific theory is a well-substantiated explanation of some aspect of the natural world, based on knowledge that has been repeatedly confirmed through observation and experimentation. Scientists create scientific theories from hypotheses that have been corroborated through the scientific method, then gather evidence to test their accuracy. As with all forms of scientific knowledge, scientific theories are inductive in nature and aim for predictive and explanatory force. -wikipedia

If X galaxy is Y million light years away, how can earth be <=6,000 years old if we can see X galaxy?

Good overclock. -.- I could barely overclock my 7950. It's currently at 1130 MHz on the core.
