am am very conflicted between these 2 phones. they both seem excellent. To help me make my decision, I have decided to list every difference I can find. feel free to add anything to the list. I do not care about performance difference. I do not care about the price difference. (I can get s10 for 740 ish with student discount through samsung website)

Advantages of 7T:

  • Alert slider
  • better OS (android 10 + oxygenOS)
  • slightly better camera imo
  • better software updates/more frequent
  • better charging speed
  • faaster fingerprint reader
  • macro camera (cool)
  • flat screen rather than curved
  • 90hz screen (almost forgot about this)

Advantages of S10:

  • much smaller size (big thing for me)
  • better battery (and better power saving options to extend battery)
  • higher pixel density (i will change to 1080p)
  • looks much better
  • camera bump is smaller and looks better
  • much better navigation options (for back, home and recent apps)
  • potentially better carrier support
  • headphone jack (dont care too much about this)
  • wireless charging/reverse
  • lighter
  • official IP rating
  • wifi 6 (meh)
  • heart rate monitor
  • dual apeture (meh)
  • included usbc headphones
  • potentially better warranty/support
  • does not require proprietary brick for fast charging.

Edit: I really want to get the 7t, but I still feel like they miss important features. I want to love the 7t, but i dont.

The 7t has a bigger battery I believe, unless you are referring to the s10+. That aside, both phones are great, although I had terrible experiences with Samsung's long term reliability. Go with phone with the features you need and prioritize.

it has a bigger battery but lasts for less time. the 90hz screen significantly reduces battery life. everyone is reporting pretty bad battery life in reviews. I am not refering to s10+.

what sort of problems did you encounter?

Honestly if the smaller Form factor of the S10 is a big deal for you then go for it. I have the 7Pro and it's really big and heavy.

The 7T also doesn't "require" a big charging brick, it's just very convenient as Warp Charging is f#cking amazing and I wouldn't trade that feature for anything imo. I don't charge over night at all, I just plug it in in the morning with ~35ish% them take a shower etc and unplug at 85. That usually lasts me through the day even with 90hz. If I have some events in the evening I plug it in another 15minutes at home and I'm back from 30 to like 60% and ready for anything.

Fast charging also hurts battery life due to the heat.

oneplus designed the charging brick so the heat goes to the brick and not the phone.

you will want to root and install Battery

I don't want to root just yet. I want to keep the warranty.

thanks for your advice though.

I used both a Note 5 and S8 as my daily. Both were amazing phones for about a year, then I started to notice crazy battery drain on idle for both phones and also while on for the S8. I took the S8 in to Samsung twice, both times they weren't able to fix the issue. I eventually got rid of the S8 after the phone began to get extremely hot while charging and went to a Oneplus 6. No issues with the Oneplus yet.
