Hi, im thinking about to reuse some old stuff to do a decent budget pc by putting a ddr board with a dual quad, but i need to fit the power suply, i was thinking of reuse the ps3 one since its 350 wats, what its 50 wats more than i was targeting to put some king of 650 of two gigas ddrr5 or some kind of this stuff, what can i do? its a ps3 fat power suply, but i dont know where to buy the cables needed to do, or if i should go by the, external power suply, which i dont know where to boy neither, any helps? :(

it has some kind of two pin square connector at the back, for gettin the energy i guess and a tinny 5 pinn connector, at the front, sorry, i dont really know a lot of things, but i really wanted to try XDDD this would be my first case mood

it would be posible to make an old power suply into an external diy power suply?

Looking up one model of the PS3 PSU I only see it having a 5V rail and a 3.3V power switch. The best you could install inside would be a computer that can run fully off a 5V supply like a raspberry pi. A desktop computer that requires a 12V rail won't work.

Well i was thinking about it cause its fits, but i will have to use some kind of external power solution, or what good tinny power suply could i use?

Well, seems that im not the only one, Caroline, who couldnt, i mean, you are telling someone that thinks that such a thing its not posible, that i cannot achieve it, and thats right, lady, i cannot, thats cause im asking for help, but instead of telling me how to do it, since seems that u can, you just tells me that i probably couldt do, not even that, you tell someone else, must be something really funny, i guess, well, yeah, you are a genius, tell me, was my post asking for help the clue that drove you to that incredible thought?

Look into FlexATX or SFX (if you have a fat PS3). If this is very low power demand hardware you can also look into PicoPSU's which use an external brick.

Now technically you could create the 12V rail and the 3.3V rail but the concern is for how much power you draw on 12V you're more than doubling the amps coming from the PS3 PSU which will strain it potentially beyond factory specs. This can cause a whole series of problems.
