Okey so i have a 2 monitor setup , one pricey 1440p 144hz monitor for my games and a cheap 1080p 60hz monitor for youtube , messenger, discord etc so while my game loads i can see videos or even when i am playing i can see what's going on on messenger etc. I use windows.

Right now i have an RTX 2070 driving both of them but when i turn off my second screen i have more fps on my game (like 10% increase)

I was wondering if i could buy a cheap 750ti or gt1030 and plug my second monitor on it. Will it take off some workload from my primary gpu and give me more fps?

If using the stuff on the other monitor causes frame loss, try it without. That will tell you if it helps or now. Real simple to test as you have everything right there.

I tried without a second monitor and there is a considerable difference , so buying a second cheap gpu will help ? I read that windows don't work that way and that it will use the second gpu just as a throughput instead of sharing workloads

I've used both a dedicated 2nd GPU and the CPU's onboard graphics to power another monitor, and each time it's always more overhead for the system.

Especially if you have mixed refresh rates.

I've tried various combinations of GTX 970, 1050 Ti, R9 390, RTX 2060, and i5 4690k iGPU. Every time, adding the 2nd monitor was always a performance drop of 5-15 Fps, regardless of what was powering it. Video playback on the 2nd panel made everything even worse.

Ive always need the second card do the work. Same with igpu. As I always run a minimum of two monitors.

Maybe your 8 threads are not enough for so much and they bottleneck both your gpus but my 2600 will do okey ?
