3600 with tomahawk max not posting

LKS

My PC just won't even show me the bios menu. Everything seem to work fine and run good. Aio is running and all the fans as well. Gpu looks ok with it's led lighting and the cpu red led light does not stay on for a long time. What is actually going on. And if I am to flash my bios through a USB, should I take off the ram the gpu and the cpu?

B450 Tomahawk? you have to update bios first.

No need to remove anything, just FOLLOW intructions in the user manual.

Main System: Ryzen 2700, Asus Crosshair VII Hero, EVGA GTX 1080ti SC, 970 EVO Plus NVMe, Crucial Ballistix 3200mhz CL14, CM H500, CM ML240L cpu cooler.

Second System: Ryzen 2400G, Gigabyte B450 DS3H, RX 580 Nitro+, Kingston A400 SSD, Team T-Force 3200mhz CL15

If it ain't overclocked it ain't good...

I have my USB ready. I have tomahawk max. Suppose to be ready for 3000 ryzen but whatever. The thing is that I have everything connected, from cpu to ram to gpu. At the msi instructions it says that you can do it without cpu. Does not mention if there's gonna be a problem if you have already built your system. So is it safe to flash with everything mounted?

There is no NEED to have anything on the board, no mention that you have to remove everything off the board. I used Bios Flashback on my crosshair vii hero without removing anything and worked great, it does not post anything, just flash the bios then it stop, you have to open the PC as usual after that. After the BIOS is updated, open the PC, if it doesnt post let us know but i doubt. Ryzen 3000 ready is for the newer board that are already updated, yours is probably not, there is usually somewhere on the board near the serial number, there is a number for which bios is installed on it.

Well after resetting cmos and and putting new bios in. After like 4 to 5 minutes it went of so it can reopen and show me that there is no boot device detected

Plus the red led indicator that shows that an update is running is just static red now along with the static no boot device led.

Was it flashing after hitting the button? If so, after it stops flashing you pull the USB stick. It should not be in the socket after finishing.

Tomahawk Max shouldn't need an update. CPU power cable is plugged in?

Do you have a case speaker? Reset it and Smash delete key until you see something lol. On a more serious note, what is happening, what the debug leds do? You might not a get a POST and fans are spinning, usually fans will ramp up then slow down, the debug leds will do their job and then you hear a beep from the speaker, then you see Boot image, at that moment you smash Delete a couple times and you enter BIOS. You can try to start the PC and smash Delete just in case you can end up on UEFI.

Edit: what i've seen in some cases is the default display is set on the motherboard and not the GPU, and with the 3600 you dont have onboard graphics.

  • 4 months later...

I have the exact same problem as OP. My first build. Had the issue of the LED not going off after the USB BIOS flash. Asking if OP solved this issue.
