Of course, it's a type sandwich. It's meat in a bun.

Just because that meat is in a "casing", doesn't make it any special.

 

Heck, a hotdog is basically a mini sub. Is a sub a sandwich? What about a meatball sub? That's not your "typical" deli sandwich right?

Not to mention, I often basically put the same crap in my hotdogs as I would in my subs. Be it onions, tomatoes, lettuce, cheese, etc(all cut in small pieces obviously...). So it's a type of sandwich to me.

That’s one common type of sandwich, yes. There are different kinds - one of which, is a hot dog.
