So i just bought a 120GB SSD and wanted to use it alongside my 1TB drive

Since im going to be using the ssd only for the OS what do i need to do to my old drive so it only stores the programs,games etc.

Basically nothing. Your old drive will work. You can delete old windows folder later (or any folder you want) or leave everything so you can have dual boot (just in case something goes wrong and you want to boot from second os).

 

Your new system will have access to your old drive.

 

Remember to unplug old drive while installing new system.

 

And installing programs on hdd has no sense btw. You buying that ssd for speed up your pc, so use it. As much as you can.

thanks i thought i needed to do something else because for some reason i dont boot directly from the hdd because there is an option to boot from windows in the bios and when i pick the hdd it doesnt boot.

Huh? In the BIOS, you can set boot priority to the SSD, and your system should boot to OS via SSD (assuming you've already installed OS in that SSD).
