Help a NOOB

Hey Guys, I'm new here and new to pc building as well. I've been meaning to build my own pc but I lack the resources to do so. Just recently I found my aunt's pc when she told me to clean up her attic and she agreed that I could have her old pc. I don't know if this pc is good for gaming or it's even good at all because it's a very old pc. It still has the sticker from the store my aunt bought it from way back in 2009. It has a core 2 Duo E7400 with no graphics card in an ASUS P5SD2-VM motherboard, 80GB of HDD and 1gb of ddr2 kingston ram. Is this pc worth upgrading? If so what upgrades should I be considering since I want to game on this pc. I'm still a student so my budget is very limited if I were to upgrade. I haven't played games on it because I don't have a longer Ethernet cable because I'm in a dormitory and we only have wifi available. What do you guys think? Your feedback is very much appreciated

Wouldn't use it for anything other than webbrowsing and basic office work and even that won't be a pleasent experience.

Well with 4GB of RAM it could be fine, but you're probably right.:D

It would need more than RAM. It would need a better CPU, better storage (ideally an SSD) & a decent GPU. When you add those plus RAM togther, you'd be spending more than the actual PC is worth.

so should I keep the mobo and save for a better cpu and more ram?

No. If this is the only PC you have at the moment, use it in its current spec. If you really want to upgrade it though, at most I'd just look for an SSD.

No, best option would be to just save your money for a brand new computer, none of the parts in something like that will be worth keeping and putting money into. All it's good for is basic web browsing on Windows 7 it more than likely will struggle to even run Windows 10.

Main Desktop: CPU - i9-14900k | Mobo - Gigabyte Z690 Aorus Elite AX DDR4 | GPU - ASUS TUF Gaming OC RTX 4090 RAM - Corsair Vengeance Pro RGB 64GB 3600mhz | AIO - H150i Pro XT | PSU - Corsair RM1000X | Case - Phanteks P500A Digital - White | Storage - Samsung 970 Pro M.2 NVME SSD 512GB / Sabrent Rocket 1TB Nvme / Samsung 860 Evo Pro 500GB / Samsung 970 EVO Plus 2tb Nvme / Samsung 870 QVO 4TB  |

TV Streaming PC: Intel Nuc CPU - i7 8th Gen | RAM - 16GB DDR4 2666mhz | Storage - 256GB WD Black M.2 NVME SSD |

Phone: Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 - Phantom Black 512GB |

If that's what you want to do then that's fine but you won't be gaming on it I'm afraid.
