Something Wrong With My Graphics Card?

I bought a asus tuf fx 705 gaming laptop like 2 months ago, ever since then i feel like my gtx 1060 (6gb non max-q) is under performing. The specs are an Intel i7-8750h, 16 gb drr4 2666 ram, 256 nvme ssd and 1 tb hdd. Any ideas why I am getting low performance? Thank you.

what do you mean by "feel like is under performing"? mobile chips aren't necessarily as good as desktop cards. If you're sure you ARE under performing, it's probably overheating, check the gpu temps with something like msi afterburner.

I don't think its overheating because i used the fan boost.

Laptops are notorious for overheating under extended load regardless of fan profile.

There are only three possible issues for what  you described:

  1. Bad drives
  2. Bloatware
  3. Thermal throttle

To correctly troubleshoot we need to check all three, so update your drivers, check whats is running in the background, and use actual monitoring software to check the CPU and GPU temps.

The final thing is to run benchmarks like 3dmark and see if your laptops preforms the same to other identical laptops. If it benches the same as other identical units there is no issue.
