Gigabyte or MSI?

Privatech

I'm planning to get RTX 2060 and Ryzen 5 2600X. My current choice for motherboard is MSI B450 Tomahawk MAX and for the graphics card MSI RTX 2060 Gaming Z.

I do not know if Gigabyte is a better choice since their motherboard also supports 3rd gen Ryzen. Many people say MSI makes the best looking and great BIOS and I believe cause MSI is a great company.

On https://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Nvidia-RTX-2060/Rating/4034 it says most people had better performance from Gigabyte's card than MSI's. I do not know if I should go with the Gaming Z. MSI's card does include Dragon Center and great look with RGB. While gigabyte's RGB software is by reviews really buggy and breaks almost immediately but does include three fans and a big heatsink.

Be aware im going to get NZXT H500 so im going to have a glass side panel and its the best case for that price.

The performance between motherboards doesn't change, unless you get a really crappy one, and these ones are not.

Also, the statement that Gigabyte supports 3rd gen ryzen over msi is incorrect. In fact, all b450 motherboards support 3rd gen ryzen with a bios update. The only difference is, the Tomahawk Max will for sure support 4th gen ryzen too in 2020. And i don't think the motherboard has any impact on the card at this point lol

1 - don't buy based on brand

2 - don't trust userbenchmark - that site is a joke and only functions as SEO spam. It's not reliable and the numbers on it are imaginary

3 - why not 3600?

4 - why not a 2060 Super or 5700?

5 - The Tomahawk Max is the best B450 board in terms of power delivery while the Strix would offer better firmware

I know about the support for Ryzen 3rd gen. But i'm kinda an RGB fan :). Wouldn't bother me if there wasnt RGB but still looks better to me if ti has.

Don't buy hardware based on looks - buy based on performance, quality and reliability

I have a budget of around 1100€ and 200€ for the monitor. If I wanted to get 3600 but its €60 over my budget. And thank you for telling me about userbenchamark.

You could get a less overpriced card and fit in a 3600. That would give you 20% more CPU performance at no real cost

Or buy stuff with all those qualities that still fits your aesthetic. It's silly to spend so much on a PC that doesn't look the way you want.

OP, if you're set on RGB, then either going full gray/black for the components and getting a system like NZXT's HUE+ is a good choice, or going for ASUS stuff and ASUS Aura compatible components. MSI's software has been just eh, it's pretty garbo in my experience. Haven't heard much better of Gigabyte's, even Aura is clunky at times, but it's also the most compatible with all types of hardware.

What's your actual budget and what country are you in?

My budget is 1300€ and my country is below my name. I would order from Amazon but their warranty is kinda shit because i have to spend 20€ just to send it back and probably be without my system for 2 weeks.

IDK how different Slovenian prices are, stuff tends to fluctuate wildly. Also the prices are pulling from amazon, it's probably worth the better prices for a chance of having to return something if it's DOA.

EDIT: Also the 5700XT seems cheaper, could go with that if you aren't set on the RTX stuff (it performs the same as the 2070 Super for a lot less).
