Hey guys I recently acquired a J4015 itx for a nas build but had to delay that project, Was wondering if a spigot minecraft server run the system with ubuntu server and 16gb 2400mhz samsung ram. The server will have around 20 to 25 player playing will this run smooth? or a xeon e3 1220l v2 and p8h77m 32gb run better?

If the upload bandwidth is there it should be smooth, doesnt take much CPU power for a network or ya know what I mean.

Wtf are you talking about
That board has a Celeron piece of garbage.

A 4th gen i5 will DOUBLE AT LEAST Any power this thing has.

I'm legit sick and tired of your fake crap "advice". You need to stop doing this right now.

@SERVER EMPEROR You're much better off getting a used 4th gen i5 or that Xeon of yours. it might look good with all that ram, but the celeron will never be able to handle a minecraft server with 4+ players. nevermind 20+

Pretty much regardless of what server you're running the Xeon would do better with that player count.

Haven't personally used Spigot (only vanilla and Enigmatica2), but if Spigot is more like vanilla then 4-6 players would probably be the upper limit assuming people are being pretty chill, if I had to wager a very generous guess (just based off the fact that the Celeron gets smacked around by a stock G3258 and MC Server generally prefers faster cores over more cores in my experience).

Regardless, I wouldn't bother with it. Just go with the Xeon and enjoy not having to deal with the headache of not having a fast enough server.

Psh, a 4th gen Pentium is about a Celeron and a half in this case.

This is VERY incorrect.

For Minecraft servers, singlethreaded performance comes first and foremost. After that, memory capacity. Then storage. Faster internet is good to have, but isn't an absolute necessity(especially for a basic server).

As long as it has good singlethread performance, it should be fine.

16GB is fine for 30 people.
