Build here: https://secure.newegg.com/global/de-en/Wishlist/SharedWishlistDetail?ID=toCDwx1Mn%2fU%3d (PS: I'll equip it with 24GB of ram (3x8), but I couldn't find single 8GB sticks on newegg)

1. Budget & Location

My budget revolves around 3500CAD (the budget includes peripherals, though the wishlist is lacking them) . I live in the EU. I'm flexible to the budget, so please exclude shipping costs from retailers.

2. Aim

I'm a software engineer and also a tech enthusiast and I just love buying new tech stuff. It's about time to upgrade from a gaming laptop (Asus ROG with gtx 970M, 24GB RAM, i7-4720HQ). I game, but I'm not so much into any new game that pops up, nor do I play competitively.

3. Monitors

Single monitor setup. The bolded points are a must for me. Also I'm a firm believer that 50% of the experience of using a PC is given by it's display.

  • 2K res
  • 120hz +
  • GSync
  • 30in size
  • Want to try VA panels as I've always used IPS/TN panels by now (I'm open to suggestions)

4. Peripherals

  • I have a Windows 10 pro license key, no need to purchase
  • I haven't included any peripherals yet (mouse & keyboard), so I'm open to suggestions (CAD200 allocation for them)
  • As far as my typing experience, I've used a laptop for the past 7 years, mid-tier, high-end gaming, high-end professional (for my programming needs). I'll list them here: An old lenovo laptop @ €500 7 years ago, my current Asus ROG with gtx 970m, an Asus Zenbook 3 Deluxe and my current work laptop Asus Zenbook Pro 15 UX580GE. I also own a wireless Logitech K810 keyboard
  • The keyboard should have backlighting, RGB is a plus. I'm not a fond of mechanical keyboards, I prefer the comfort of other keyboards; full size keyboard.
  • On mice: kinda the same story, I'm very used to my MX Master, so I'd love a similar experience. I don't care about variable DPI or macro keys or modular weight system.

5. Why are you upgrading?

  • Because I'm a tech enthusiasts and I want a rocket :) (within this budget)

Note

  • The graphics card will be set on a RTX 2070
  • Case will be set on a mini tower (mATX) and I'm open to suggestions about other mATX cases (tempered glass is a must; I can buy the case fans myself)
  • I couldn't find the case on newegg, but it's this (since my local online retailer has it listed): http://gamemaxpc.com/productkkk/showproduct.php?id=526
  • Question: would the graphics card block that smaller PCI buss underneath ? Thinking that I might want to equip it with a wireless card (with BT), since they are not expensive.

can't you use PCPartPicker instead? Change region on the top right corner.

you'll see why the prices are so bad on Newegg

Couldn't find a suitable case. I'm open to suggestion. Budget is €100. MINIATX and tempers glass, some rgb would be nice.

No peripherals either, so I'm open to suggestions.

Total budget is 2300 euro (so I'm not sure why this website comes out so cheap). But let's "round" it down to 1800 euros.

If you examine the build list you will see that the gpu and psu have no cost. That is why the price comes out so low.

The memory configuration is sub-optimal. Buying separate sticks leaves a small chance that a pair will not operate in dual channel mode. Using three sticks guarantees that one bank will only operate in single channel. Finally, the stock memory controller speed is DDR4-2666. While different memory speeds do not have a large impact on performance, speeds below DDR4-2666 definitely perform worse.

The Gamemax H605-TA case has a max cpu cooler height of 155 mm. The Neptwin V2 is 159 mm tall with fan mounted. Something like Scythe Mugen 5 Rev. B 51.17 CFM CPU Cooler would fit.

I'd suggest that you consider an AMD 3700X cpu instead of the i7-9700. The 3700X has higher single thread performance and thus better overall performance.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

Questionable choices, everywhere.

9700 + H370 could be cheaper for the same performance as 3700x idk, but 9600k + z390 (even the rather cheap boards like the MSI Gaming Plus, though I'd ideally want the Asrock Extreme4 or Phantom 6) is definitely faster for about the same money because you can overclock it to frequencies noticeably higher than the 9700.

The cooler... sure no problem

Memory config is straight up weird. With 3 sticks, you get 8gb capacity in dual channel, 4gb in single channel (half bandwidth). 2133MHz is also really slow, could hurt gaming performance especially in frame rate stability (even if it's Intel, not Ryzen). Spend more for 3000MHz 2x8gb here

Samsung SSDs in general cost too much, just like buying an iPhone when all you need is a smartphone. 500GB QLC NVMe SSD like the 660p or TLC SATA SSD like the MX500 or SU800

2060 Super and 5700XT performs close to the 2070, also keep those in mind

the PSU's pretty bad

You need 550w max for 9600k + even the more power hungry 5700xt, any more is "want", not need.
