So i recently updated my windows 10 for the first time because it is required inorder for me to install gears of war 5 from the microsoft store.

I updated it but you have to right click on the windows icon to shut it down now? If i left click the windows icon now my search bar disapears.

Is this normal?

I jsut created a batch file for both shutting down and rebooting due to Windows annoying saving all your opened applications. These would be call clean restarts or shutdowns.

shutdown /r /f /t 0
 or
shutdown /s /f /t 0

These are a little dirty in the way they shut down the machine though. So if you feel like you want to give the machine 30 seconds, you cal leave off the /t 0.

I have the shutdown one made as shortcut icon, and then pinned that to start menu.

That is not normal.. and I don't think the people above understood you.

To shutdown the computer (or restart or sleep), simply left click on the Start button (Windows icon) which is, by default at the bottom left of the screen. Then pick the power button, the button that is right above the Windows button. When you press on it, you'll get a menu.

From there you pick: Sleep, Restart, or Shutdown. (depending on your system configuration you may also have "Hibernation")

So I do know how to shutdown my PC normally, which is exactly like you described a left click and then shutdown options.

What happened was i updated windows 10 and then my windows icon wouldnt work when i left clicked it. so then i right clicked and the shut down options popped up. It was a weird occurance and now everything seems back to normal.
