CPU Temperature Discrepancy

CPU - 4770k (not overclocked/overvolted)

Cooler - be quiet Dark Rock 2 (a fairly new addition)

 

Temperatures being monitored with HWMonitor and AISuite

 

At idle the temperatures between AISuite and HWMonitor line up to within a degree or two of each other (34 in AISuite and 36 on the hottest core in HWMonitor) but when I run Prime95 Blend (temperatures were taken about 10-15 minutes after starting the test) the difference becomes much larger.

 

AISuite - 54°

HWMonitor - 66°

 

Im not familiar enough to know if this large of a difference is normal (they just measure temperatures differently) or if user error is at fault.

They might be different. One measuring the core, and the other the socket.

use the Intel extreme tuning utility and compare

Get Realtemp and Speccy, get a couple more opinions and see what they say?

HWMonitor is more accurate. AISuite tends to be little optimistic. I've seen same thing in many threads.
