You should wait for the 880 at lest because the 780 should drop in price.

Of course the 880 is going to be more expensive than the 780. If you are getting it in 2 months, then why are you asking us now? Wait and see if Maxwell releases.

well, 680s are still working well today, so 780 should be the same later on, and ive you are like me and stay with s specific game, then you wont need to go with 880 either

If you're not building for two months, I would just wait and see what's available then.. If the 880 is out and looks like a good deal, buy one.. If the 880 isn't a good price, the 780 isn't a bad option.

It doesn't make sense to make this decision now..

i7 not perfectly stable at 4.4.. #firstworldproblems

if they release it in 2 months then linus would review it. if there isn't any further information about the release and quality i will buy the 780 i think.

i hope the 780 is just as good. i want to use it for like 5 years and probably buy a second 780 in december. depends if it performs better then the 880 on its own. i hope so. what do you think will be the first thing i need to upgrade? DDR3 to DDR4? or the GPU?

in 2 months hopefully more news about the 800 series will be out. If it is then wait but if no news or anything has come out then a 780 will be great

@k0enf0rNL, don't mean to be picky, but you seemed to have left the 's' out at the end of 'Series'. So you've got 'GTX 8 Serie' instead of 'GTX 8 Series'. Just thought I would point that out. :D

FYI - You are able to edit your titles and fix them.

what irks me to no end is this mining business!  Now that nvidia cards are also a viable solution for mining, we'll see inflated prices across the board.  I guess the time for affordable gpu's are permanently over because I don't

see this virtua mining crap be over any time soon. :(

It should be ok for 5 years, but one 780 wont outperform a 780, because ive it does, then the 800 series would be senceless. but upgradw whise, it depends on how much ram you already have, since ive you buy one 780, and another one in december you should be set for a good while anyways, youd just not have the fancy name of a 800 series card. so asumin you will buy a motherboard with 4 ram slots, and then you get 2x4GB or 2x8GB, you can always just but more when you need. DDR4 wont be usefull for a while id say, since it will cost a lot, and game engines havent even maxed out on DDR3, since games just need 8GB.

thanks for your helpfull reply. i ment to say when i get 2 780's running in SLI and compare them to the 880 and the 880 will outperform the 2 780's then i will wait with my second 780 and instead replace the 780 for a 880 in about 1,5 - 2 years.

You should see what's out/announced in 2 months. Right now it's a shot in the dark.

ye i know. i just dont want to get a 780 next month or so and then a few days later the 880 is anounced and it will be the same price as a 780 and the 780 will drop in price again...
