Yea, its dead... 

 

And this is why when you dont have the proper connectors on your PSU, you NEVER adapt or get cables.. you BUY A NEW PSU!!!

Hi there.

Basically my brother bought a used gtx 980. He didn't have 2 6 pin cables connected to his psu so he ordered a cable and in the meantime connected a separate PSU which worked. Then when the new cable arrived he connected the cable to the wrong port on his modular psu. He killed his CPU 100% and replaced it with a 2400g. Now the card has no display, fan spin or any signs of life. I have tried it in my rig and same issue.

It was a TXM 550w psu aswell as:-

CPU: Ryzen 3 1200
Ram: DDR4 2400mhz 8gb
Motherboard: Cheap asus board, will need to check
Storage: 2 x  1Tb DW blue
Gpu: Zotac GTX 980

Yup, tried to tell him........ He has warranty on the card from the store he bought it from and they have no way of testing the card, sounds crazy because it is, so might try and see it he can return it. Thanks.

It's best if he doesn't mention how it died. If he tells the store that it was "user error" then he'll likely be rejected.
