Microsoft killing my antivirus process?

Trying to get windows to update, I open msdt and enter the code. They walk me through the typical thing, blah blah blah, then open task manager. Heres where it gets interesting. They kill the malwarebytes tray process. I proceed to get him off my computer and hang up the call.

yup...

In addition, several security software in the past, under specific versions, causes issue with Windows Update process (nothing new).

It is always best to ensure that your security software are fully updated before updating the OS, or if there is not a new version or can't wait (because MS does put upgrade blocks if an incompatible software is detected, or reported to cause issues to limit damage) you can uninstall it, update to the latest version, and now install your security software(s) back.

Another culprit of updates being blocked is anti-cheat systems from games. By fixing critical security issue in the OS, select, but widely used, anti-cheat system caused BSODs (as they are driver level software). Like with all software issues, Microsoft tries to work with company who is facing issues the moment they are detected during the Insider versions.
