Networking - 4x USB 3.* vs 1 Melanox 10 gb

Can I connect two computers together with 4 usb 3.x crossover cables and get similar performance to a 10gb Melanox network adapter? Not sure if anyone has tried this. If not, how many would it take? Thank you, Scott

Seems like 4 usb crossover cables are a bigger hassle than a network card with a Cat7 cable. I would prefer the mellanox.

Not really - perhaps if you were transferring multiple smaller files (since one large file will take the path of a single cable - it won't get the benefit from the other ones).

 

This is an interesting "What if" scenario, but realistically, a 10Gig networking card is going to be superior in every single way.
