PSU for 2060 Super + i5-9600k

Eridan

Would a Corsair TX550M 80+ Gold 550W be enough for a build with an Intel i5-9600k and RTX 2060 Super? The cooler i'll be using will be the Dark Rock 4 if that helps

550W should definitely be enough for your build, even if you decide to overclock the 9600K, and it is a well-built PSU so you should have no problems.

thank you, I was a bit worried for this choice after seeing builds that paired 600-650W PSUs with the 9600K and 2070/2060 as GPUs

A good 550 watt is enough for any consumer config.

I wouldnt really go for the component combo you are using unless your region has interesting pricing compared to a lot of other countries.

i've been told by some friends that the 9600k is an overkill for my overall build, but the Intel platform is what i've been using for the last years and decided to stick with it

Its overkill but its also poor due to emerging stuttering issues in titles that can use 6 Threads.

forgot to ask, what would be your recommandation for about the same price of the 9600k? i'd guess the 3600/3600X

Both the RTX 2060 Super and the i5 9600K are very poor value compared to the RX5700XT and R5 3600.

The TX550M is a very good PSU though and sufficient for either builds.

3600x is awful value.

3600 would be it. Together with a B450 or low end x570.

You get HT which fixes stuttering issues and you keep most of the singlecore performance.

I would look at a 5700xt. Tho it depends on regional avavibility.

My build will be similar to yours and was wondering the same. I always go to the MSI PSU calculator and check what watt what wants. I already have a 550W PSU and after I get a new GPU I would still have plenty to spare.
