Can't install Geforce Experience

Niami

I've been trying to install GFE 3.20 but every time I try I just get "Nvidia Installer failed". I've tried the troubleshooting steps from Nvidia but they havent worked and trying to search for it shows guides for drivers not installing.

Have you tried downloading the nvidia drivers instead of GFE as stand alone ?

It will work fine but if by any chance doesn't work you can always run DDU "Display Driver Uninstaller" and clean up entire nvidia crapola and what not.

Either way but it would be better to post this in the graphics cards section but your fine here as well.  A lot of the nVidia gurus don't lurk software ya know.

It fails the update core, should that be fixed from DDU?

Yes and try and run it in safe mode and choose nVidia and do a clean and restart then your back up in normal mode and now install the latest drivers that just came out btw.

Also to go into safe mode go to Start Run and type   "msconfig" without the quotes and youll see boot and just put it on safe mode and its a one time deal so when you reboot it will go to safe mode you do your DDU then you will be back up into normal mode now and now install the drivers.

Alright, thanks for the instructions, also, could you link me to DDU? I've never used it and I'm not sure which link is safe

OP, DO NOT make a second thread. Simply use the report function and ask a mod to move it.

Oh no............... that is not good.  Im assuming your on WIndows 10 correct ?  If so can you tell me which build you using 1809 or 1903.  Also I assume your using the latest drivers.  Go ot nvidia site and get a bit older drivers in the 4xx series just not the latest one that just came out.

Oh nevermind, sorry, I tried installing both driver and experience at once, which errored, just now I finished the driver standalone and it worked.

Wow that is great news. So your good to go now!!!  Make sure to mark the problem solved so anyone with your issue will know what to do to fix these stupid geforce experience issues which is not news to me.  Drivers get tangled up with a stuborn uncle billys OS and don't play nice with each other.

Can you send me a screenshot or tell me what the error says exactly. DDU should have fixed it.  Once again what version of WIndows 10 you running ?  These stupid uncle billy updates break sh*T and that is fact.  This is why it took them 3 trys to sort out 1809 bugs.  All stuff and pic I had deleted came back lol , I got the first release, eventually they made updates and all is well and now 1903 very very solid but still gives some users weird issues like sleeping problems etc.  Or monitor going black then coming back not sleep just instantly.  Or if you have dual monitor or tv situation it would black out then the picture came.

I get no error just "Nvidia installer failed". I'm actually not sure what version I'm running since i'm pending install for 1903 and haven't done it since I read after I started the download that its really buggy

Also try a different version geforce experience.  See if you can get your hands on something from couple months ago.  Worst case you end up installing a bit older drivers and GFE will be lower version and that may shock it to work.

Yes some peeps have issues.  Just weird stupid issues as I described above.  I can tell you 1809 3rd time around release was solid but had some issue for a small group of people so when they released 1903 they took their time and it got delayed I think by couple months if Im not mistaken.  1903 is really solid.  Personally with my config that is very old I have not a single bug or some crap not working properly on 1903.  I couldn't be happier.  1809 was a disaster tho for a large portion of people it would also delete your files pics whatever.  As I said when I installed it initially next thing I know Im seeing bunch of pictures I had deleted long time ago they came back;  but note this is on 1809.  I would advise you to grab 1903 but before you begin the update run DDU again "sorry no choice" and clean up everything then install 1903 , then after that install the latest nVidia drivers that just came out.

Sorry for the late update (windows was being slow as per usual) but it works! Thanks a lot!
