How to remove partitions?

So when I built my PC, I decided to make a partition for just Windows. I messed up and called it C, then forgot to change where everything auto installed. Games are on a different drive now, but I can't make the C partition on that drive larger. I also can't delete the D drive. Is there any way to make the C drive larger without having to format that drive and reinstall windows?

You can boot into something like parted magic and then move the parititon.

 

Also make sure you have a good backup first.

 

Id just copy the files from D to anouther drive, delete d and make one big partition.

While there are tools to resize partitions that come right before another one, keep in mind that this is a pretty low-level operation and data loss is a risk.

 

Considering that you don't have much on the Games partition anyway, move everything to the F: drive and delete the Games partition, then resize the OS one as desired.

I've been trying to play with just formatting the D partition that I have since there is nothing important on there. Windows won't let me since C, which is my Windows partition is on the same drive.I'm about to just hard format all my drives. Basically the only things on this computer that aren't backed up are games right now.

I think you doing the whole windows volume management isn't helping you here, these aren't normal partitions it seems.

 

Is the gpt or mbr?

 

Id be tempted to just reinstall if you want a simple way to make it one big partiton, otherwise boot from a linux live disk as some stuff can't be done when running the os.

Won't install though. Wants to force it's self to install onto the full C drive.

Have you cleaned up your drive? what did you use? disk cleanup? ccleaner?

Disk cleanup. I'm just going to reinstall windows and leave that disk as all one drive. I was hoping to give Windows it's own partition, but that didn't go as well as I had figured it would.

turn off the page file.  That is why you cannot delete the partition.
