Hello Folks!

I'm trying to *learn" Photoshop, and was wondering if you guys had some tips for me.

For example where should I start? What not to do? What to do?

Any good video links?

Or anything I always need for Photoshop.? Like templates or tools or something.

Thanks. :)

yeah, I already have some genral knowledge, and am pretty proud of some of my work, but still I'd like some help.

There are people out there that can make some pretty hefty stuff. ^^

Photoshop has so many things it can do, so first you need to specify what it is that you want to do with photoshop — Draw or sketch? Photo adjustments, manip, retouch or cleanup? Typography? Design? Layouting?

I've been using photoshop for about 10 years, and there are still new things I find to this day.

Cheers,

Linus

I'm no expert at Photoshop but a usually good approach is to go in and try things out with the more advanced software such as this one. See what each function does and try and think of places where you would be able to use them. Then after you have had a good go at it for some time try to look for tutorials specific to a task that you currently want e.g. draw some abstract art. With that approached I learned how to use Paint.NET and currently I'm learning how to properly use Sketchup.

I personally started out learning on Photoshop Elements, then moved on to CS5, then CS6, and I'm using CC right now. If you have a Lynda account, they have some really helpful courses. I think a really good way to practice is trying to reproduce something, say a wallpaper.

On an unrelated note, 1000th post :D

Spoiler

-snip-

Photo manipulations are one of the easiest things to do, and often one of the first steps thought in schools.

I suggest looking up tutorials on youtube for the following topics to get started on this path:

• Masking

• Isolating

• Clone Tool

Additionally, you might want to look up:

• Layer Blending Options

• Curves

• Levels

• Colour Adjustments

That should have you occupied for some time, and give you basic knowledge of some of the most used tools.

Cheers, and good luck!

Cheers,

Linus
