Show mouse cursor on Windows 2000 when physical mouse is unplugged

Hi, I have a Windows 2000 machine that has all my CNC programming on it that I use for Milling with my milling machine. I got a software called Input Director so I can share my mouse from my Windows 10 Machine to my Windows 2000 machine, but I can't get the mouse to show up on the Windows 2000 machine. I can mose the mouse around and click on things as normal but since there isn't a physical mouse connected, the cursor won't show. I have found solutions to this problem that work on Window 10, but I can't find anything on Windows 2000 probably because it's completely obsolete. If anyone can help me find a program or setting that allows the cursor to be visible without a mouse that would be fantastic, I've done some searching but simply can't find anything. Thanks!

@philip1077 Stupid idea, but would leaving a wireless mouse dongle (IIRC, Win2K has USB mouse support) plugged in be enough to keep the cursor visible? Or does Input Director require a mouse to not be connected?

What if you wrote an AutoHotKey script for a really old version that moved the mouse by one or two pixels every few minutes? Might that do it?

Have you thought about looking for "software that highlights mouse." Such as http://www.pointerfocus.com/ and adjust the highlight settings to give you an idea of where your mouse pointer is. Something compatible with win 2000, of course.

 

I use them as a mouse cursor proxy when doing screenshots in VMs, since on certain functions, the cursor won't show up in screenshots. Though I'd have no idea how it would treat the Input Director mouse.

Windows 2000 has accessibility features. One of them is called "mouse keys". Go into the accessibility settings and turn it on, then you can use the numeric keyboard keys to control the mouse. This will hopefully "turn on" the cursor for you as well.
