Windows won't boot, reset or repair - PLS HELP

After an update Windows won't boot, repair or reset. It won't roll back to an older version or restore point. chkdsk returns no errors and sfc scannow returns 'recourse protection could not perform the requested operation'. 

 

I'm running Windows 10

Before you do anything else grab a bootable usb (i.e. ubuntu) and save all your data

If all fails you dont loose data and installing win 10 again is annoying but not that big of a deal
