Linus owns Linustechtips, so he's a reviewer and tester i'd say. and probably works with info back to the manufacturers about their products.

He obviously still works for NCIX, not as an employee, but as a private contractor. They hire him for his talents. He is a brand, a personality, and while it makes sense to get NCIX Jack to step his game up; it would be stupid to lose the most recognizable face of NCIX.
