BeQuiet 160watt cooler overheating 3600.

Hey all,

I have a BeqUIET Shadow Rock Slim with 160 watts of TDP,  with 3 case fans (2 intake, 1 exhuast in phanteks p350x), on Asus Prime x470 and Ryzen 5 3600 with PBO on.

 

And while running prime 95 it getts to 85 degrees.

 

Is this normal? I dont think so because the 3600 tdp is 65 and the tower has 160 watts.

 

 

I have added a silent wings three fan on the rear.

TDP ratings mean little, but check your mounting pressure first. The screw holding the cooler in is supposedly tight, as if you're building an Ikea chair.

Cinebench R15 Single thread:168 Multi-thread: 833 

SuperPi (v1.5 from Techpowerup, PI value output) 16K: 0.100s 1M: 8.255s 32M: 7m 45.93s

So, just make sure that its super tight? How tight should it be? I dont want to be break my ryzen.

Personally I like to keep ryzen under 80c.

 

answering your question if it’s ‘normal’ - that really depends every case on its own. It may be ambient temps, better airflow, more fans etc etc

Check your voltages. I just recently watched Jayz2Cents OC guide on new Ryzen and he said they are having some similar issues with voltages as Intel has had since Devils Canyon.
