So i'm finishing my nephews build. R5 1400 + 1050TI.

1050Ti has no power connector, so its just plugs into motherboard.

But upon powering everything on i get no display.GPU fans are spinning so it means it is getting the power.

How can i trouble shoot what's happening? Removed 1 ram stick, same story.
Disconnected SSD and HDD. Same story
No RAM, same story.

My new 2nd monitor won't display either.

where are the display output cables connected? Did you plug in the EPS or CPU connector on the top left of the board?

It is not pluged in all the way

Quite a lot of clearance but that's not unheard of, give it a little push

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

PSU tier list

How many watts do I need?

PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

Installed outside of the case. Same.

Tried lower slot and it works. Could you perhaps elaborate why top slot won't work

My first guess as to why the top slot doesn't work would be a defective motherboard, couldn't think of another reason honestly

Unplug it (careful with the pci-e retainer clip on the back side of the card)  and reseat it .... maybe double check the bracket and/or bend the bottom of the bracket a bit, to go inside the channel in the case, or whatever it's there.

You probably can't get it inside all the way because the bracket bottom hits the metal case instead of going into a channel.

Another possible reason would you you didn't screw the motherboard right into the case and it's somehow a bit off-center ...you could loosen the screws that hold the mb in place and then rescrew it, by going diagonally and tightening each screw a bit, allowing the board to center itself over the standoff locations

Its not the case. I took mobo outside onto motherboard box, plugged in into x16 all the way in. In my previous photo left side was exposed, but even all the way in connected it won't display. So I want to say my x16 is goner

And yes I don't have clearance obviously for the top spot. So for now I may leave in x8 if it doesn't effect the performance that much

maybe gigabyte 1050ti doesnt work on x16 at all since it simply connects to motherboard?
Or i'll have to pull my 1060 to test it out is it the slot or gpu

That's definitely not the reason either, since x16 is the designed interface for the card.

well i guess i'll leave it then. Checked some game benchmarks x8 vs x16. And difference is 1-2% between the two.

yes it's true you don't have to worry about a performance penalty, but if it were me I'd RMA that board
