For $30 it's not worth it, you may as well spend that $30 on something that's actually useful.

From a financial point of view it's just not worth it. If you had a more decent budget of lets say $100, then yeah maybe but for $30 it's not worth it.

Check GPU Projects PPD Database at overclock.net

They have google spreadsheet that has performance of GPUs at folding and see what would be the best option for you.

But with your PSU limit you are really constrained, only gpu that I know that can do folding and doesn't need additional power is gtx 1050.

If you have old GPU with low memory there aren't any jobs for it. I have old quadro with 256mb memory as my backup and last job for GPU like that was around 2016.

So if you buy old GPU you might not get any WUs (calculation jobs) for it.

I understood that. I don't see that card on list for supported cards list, but I might be looking for a wrong card. Card needs to be on the list for it to work.

Radeon HD 7750   15,848

Considering the Radeon HD 7750 is listed at only 15k PPD, I would imagine that the 7450 would be essentially useless for folding. You'd get more points from CPU folding at that point.

If your PSU is lacking PCIe connectors then I would put the $30 towards a PSU instead, unless it's like some Dell PSU that would be a pain to replace.

Looking at some craigslist listings I can see some GTX 1050 Tis for around $50. You might be able to haggle down to $40. Most 1050 Ti's don't require additional power. That should get you about 150k-200k PPD. Even a GTX 1050 (non Ti) should net you 100k+ PPD

@GrockleTD Have you signed up for a Passkey for F@H? That will enable you to receive Quick Return Bonus (QRB) and earn more points.

No, not really...

Also your signature says that Crumplebox has a GTX 770 in it? You really don't want to mix and match AMD & Nvidia cards, it's a pain in the ass dealing with the drivers.

I know this sounds weird but use whatever craigslist or similar service in your area and talk to a lot of people, you can get some really good deals. I met someone online who really needed a monitor and I had one that had just come with a computer I got from a garage sale like a year before and we just traded things and were both very happy. I was a little tired since I had to bike for like 2 and a half hours each way but it was worth it xD

Due to budget and PSU constraints, need something incredibly cheap and also that doesn’t require additional power. This is for my CrumpleBox.

A lack of a 6-pin PCIe power connector can be overcome using a dual molex to 6-pin adaptor.  I got one of these with my GTX 1060 6GB shortboard and use it in my test rig which has an older 300W Bronze ATX power supply without issue. Two molex connectors will be able to supply the 75W the 6-pin adaptor is rated for (that’s 37.5W per molex at 12V or a little over 3A per 12V wire) so as long as the PSU is rated at 250 to 300W it should be generally be fine (have enough capacity on its 12V rail)

One of these adaptors might allow you to install a more current GPU if you can find one within your budget

One of these adaptors might allow you to install a more current GPU if you can find one within your budget

as of the present, i have decided to set aside my folding rig expansion, and focus on my main rig. good to know though, and thanks for the assistance
