Hi i just build a pc

i5 9600K

gtx 1660ti

16gb ram 3000mhz

corsair 650W 80 plus gold

 

Im trying to use XMP to get the advertised speeds on my memory 3000mhz but im getting 2400mhz on default. I go into BIOS and i put XMP in profile 1 and then i try to boot and the windows dots just keep spinning forever

Maybe bad xmp profile ? just put it back to 2400 on a intel cpu u will prob not notice a diff

You may want to try keying in the values manually. X.M.P. isn't guaranteed to work for every single hardware combination. If you can't reach 3000MHz by the end what you can do is tighten the RAM timing. This will effectively give you the same results if done properly.

Also i didnt change the voltage at all

That's not particularly easy to explain. Everybody's BIOS is different. Youtube has some decent resources on what RAM overclocking is and how to do it manually.
