Honestly I’m not even sure what’s the problem. I feel like something is wrong with my graphics card. My specs are ryzen 5 2600, gtx 1070 oc, hyper x 2x4 3200 mhz, msi b350 mate, and Corsair 650 power supply. I upgraded from a 950 last Christmas and I got the 1050ti then I decided that I wanted more of an upgrade so I got the 1070 oc. Ever since I got it I feel like it’s not as powerful as it should be. Even in fortnite with nothing open on max settings I was getting 110 to like 30 frames which doesn’t seem right. My gpu was at 100% and the fans were really loud on it. I just feel like I should get better performance especially on fortnite.

this tells us barely any info.

resolution? temps? OS? % usage of everything else? internet speed? etc

MAKE SURE YOUR DRIVERS ARE UP TO DATE ON YOUR 1070.

First, consider that your RAM is bottlenecking your CPU and that may be the issue. 8GB of RAM for most gaming setups is on the low end. You'll need some extra space to keep that CPU fed. I'm running a very similar setup to yours, 2600X, 1070 SC, but I'm also running 16GB of Corsair Vengeance RAM at 3000MHz. That sits me at about 150-160 FPS at max in Fortnite.

Also, consider turning down your settings if FPS matters all that much to you? Take a look at how a lot of CSGO pros (used to?) play. They'd have insane setups for the time and be playing at 4:3 aspect ratio on the lowest settings just to get over 300FPS. Things have changed but not entirely. If FPS is what you're going for then you'll have to sacrifice some of your visuals.

To address the fans, install a program like HWMonitor from CPUZ and then report back here with temp screenshots after playing Fortnite for 30-45 mins. From there, we will know if it's just a weird auto-fan issue that can be addressed with a custom fan curve or a driver update.

Did you DDU and install latest drivers every time you swapped graphics card?

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

"Here is some advice that might have gotten lost somewhere along the way in your life.

#1. Treat others as you would like to be treated.

#2. It's best to keep your mouth shut; and appear to be stupid, rather than open it and remove all doubt.

#3. There is nothing "wrong" with being wrong. Learning from a mistake can be more valuable than not making one in the first place.
