Ethernet not working

I have an ethernet port under my desk and I have an ethernet cable. When I plug it in, it doesn't connect. It doesn't show that an ethernet connection is established. Please fix

Have you tried a different ethernet cable from your pc to the jack?

yes it goes to the router

Did you try plugging something directly into that port on the router?

I would test it, if it works then the cable in the wall/where it connects to the jacks on either end are bad. You might have to take the jack off and re-terminate the cable.

If Windows 10

Start Menu -> Settings -> Network/Internet -> Network Reset -> Reset Now -> Reboot when prompted.

for terminating a cable into a jack you "need" (it can be done without one, but it's not recommended) a certain tool, I would follow a tutorial like this

But if @rcmaehl's instruction works then it wasn't a hardware issue. You should also try another PC/laptop before doing anything with the jacks.

i dont think it was a hardware issue because people i have another router and i can connect that through ethernet
