2019 GTX 780 vs 770 4GB

Hey guys

Just wanna start off by saying ive looked elsewhere for an answer to this question and unfortunatly none of them are even vaguely recent so i dont know how well they holdup in 2019.

Anyway ive got a small lan party coming up and im taking my server pc as i really dont feel like taking my main pc the PanzerMaus. Now the server runs an i7 4770, 12gb DDR3 (obviously) and a Dell 9020 mobo in a h17 case but its the GPU that has me conflicted, my 2 most powerful spares are my 780 3gb founders and my windforce 770 4gb. Years ago the answer was easy but now with games using way more Vram im not so sure. Im starting to think the 770 4gb with a light oc may run our most intensive game better (latest Vermintide) on a 1920x1080p 60hz monitor while keeping alot cooler.

What do you lot think?

Cheers

Use the 780, can't replace raw power with more vram.

Thats a fair point and i suppose aslong as it diesnt hit that 3gb frame buffer its gonna be fine. Stupid thing is in games like the new wolfenstein the 780 cant even make it through a cutscene but the 770 will play fine just because of that vram limit.

You should be fine with Vermintide worst case you need to lower some settings, but the frame rate will be very consistent.

Can u turn the textures and shadows down a bit to get it to 3gb because the 780 would sure be better

Both cards are around 960 lv of performance so probe get a cheep upgrade when u can

Alternatively u could run it at 80 percent resolution and use a sharpening filter

Will look nearly the same but help performance

3gb card failing at 1080p doesn't sound right tho :( sad times a few years a go everyone was like u will never need more than 2gb vram lol

Its a 970 so not a whole lot better and its constantly running hot because it was made by slowtac + i cbf pulling my main pc apart i plan on leaving this GPU in the server even after the lan party.
