So I was planning out a system to build and I decided on the Asus ROG Strix X470-F ( Newegg ). However, I've usually gotten help from friends when picking motherboards so I have no idea weather the front panel connectors will work with the case I want to use ( h700i ). How would I tell or would they work together?

It's not hard. Check what cables your chassis has then compare them to the headers on the motherboard.

  • Most come with power/reset buttons & power LED/HDD activity indicator LED.
  • Many come with front audio out/line in
  • Many come with USB2.0/3.0

The motherboard has headers for all of those. Some chassis's may have more than one USB2.0/3.0 cable so it really depends on what chassis we're talking about exactly.

Personally I prioritise the choice of motherboard over weather or not it has all the necessary headers for my chassis. This means you might be down a USB port, or front audio, etc but that's made up for by having the features of the board you wanted.
