Noctua 40mm fans. Dos anyone have experience?

I am a huge Noctua fan and love them for their performance and silence. But (since I only cooled PCs with thier stuf) I only have experience with thier 200-120mm models.

Now I get a new TV reciever with a hella loud fan. I already checked its a 40mm with a standard 3pin and also Voltage+Current is in line with what Noctua offers.

So my question: Did anyone of you ever use those super small Noctuas? Do they perform as well as their bigger brothers?

Yeah. They don't move a lot of air. So they're quiet, but that's why.

Noctua's 40mm fan is reportedly 17.9 dB(A). Compare that to their 120mm 3pin fan, which is 22.6 dB(A). It seems as though it's right on par with their more standard size fans in regards to noise only.

Sure, but for me noise is also about frequency... I fear that due to being smaller they will make a much more high pitched noise

I use them in network switches that had overzealous, loud fans. The Noctua fans resulted in a 1-2 degree increase, but it wasn’t enough to matter.

Ah I See! Thanks. So then I guess they are pretty nice then. 1-2 degrees more wont hurt my reciver. I think I’ll go with it
