Hello,

I’m looking at building a new PC which will predominantly be used for everyday browsing the internet, watching videos and general office work. However I want it to have the ability to game at around 1080p even at low settings. It also needs to be upgradable if I find that I get back into PC gaming. I don’t want a big tower so I’ve gone for a MicroATX mini tower

PCPartPicker Part List: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/PZrRjy

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2400G 3.6 GHz Quad-Core Processor  (£112.36 @ CCL Computers)
Motherboard: MSI B450M PRO-M2 Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard  (£56.49 @ Amazon UK)
Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 8 GB (1 x 8 GB) DDR4-2666 Memory  (£34.38 @ Aria PC)
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive  (£36.78 @ Aria PC)
Case: Cooler Master MasterBox Q300L MicroATX Mini Tower Case  (£39.99 @ PC World)
Power Supply: Corsair Builder 500 W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply  (£50.47 @ Scan.co.uk)
Total: £330.47

My budget for this is £350 UK  for hardware so there is still some wiggle room. I’ve gone for the 2400g over the 3400g because the 2400 is a very capable APU, overclocks well if needed and I feel that because I may purchase a graphics card at a later date the 3400g would be a bit of a waste. One stick of 8gb ram because that once again it allows for an upgrade of a another stick, although I don’t see the RAM becoming a bottleneck for what I’m using it for. An SSD may be an option as well as better cooling for an upgrade at a later date as well. I don’t really have a preference on the case as long as it is small and isn’t to garish.

I would like people’s opinions, could I do it better for the price point is there anything I should swap etc?

Thanks

Andy

you should really get at least 3000Mhz ram and get dual channel. ryzen is pretty ram dependent so you will be taking quite a large performance hit for not going with dual channel high speed ram.

IMO you should get a 240gb ssd first then a hard drive after if needed. an ssd in 2019 is basically essential, every computer should have one.

I do agree, with storage being so cheap I can always get a HDD as and when is needed

I thought about something like this however I don’t mind spending a a bit on a GPU further down the line if I decide I want to game more. What is the performance difference between the R3 1200 and the R5 2400G when paired with a RX570?

Though he had used a rx560 instead of rx570.
