Ryzen hard system crashing on 1903?

EDIT: For anyone coming to this with similar issues. It's been 2 weeks without a crash. I uninstalled AMD Relive with a driver update and that seemed to do the trick. Whether it was the new driver or not installing Relive, I haven't had the issue. Good luck!

Hello all,

So over the past month I've been having hard system crashes e.g. no BSOD just screens go black, and the system shuts off. This will happen randomly, could be while gaming or just watching youtube videos. I've been trying to check for similarities but it's pretty random. And trying to trace back to before this started, I think I've narrowed it down to a week after I updated my system to the windows 1903 update. Since then, to solve the crashing, I have updated the motherboard BIOS, updated the chipset from AMD, updated the video driver, and reset all my over clocking settings to default BIOS settings.

At this point I'm just wondering if others are having similar problems. I did think my PSU could be going bad but we haven't had any power surges in years and the PSU is only 2 years old. Not too familiar with hard system crashes like this. Thanks for reading!

My specs:

R7 1700

32GB Trident Z Memory

Vega 56

Asus B350 Strix-F Motherboard

750w evga gold PSU

How did you even get 1903 downloaded? I thought MS cancelled it on AMD systems due to instability?

If it's just shutting off that is either display cables, motherboard, PSU failure. The former-most is much less likely but much easier to test.

Brands I wholeheartedly reccomend (though do have flawed products): Apple, Razer, Corsair, Asus, Gigabyte, bequiet!, Noctua, Fractal, GSkill (RAM only)

HAHAHA Welp, I guess that would explain my crashing then. It gave me a prompt in windows update and I waited a month or so to let the "bugs get worked out...." I didn't know there where AMD specific issues with 1903 so I guess I'll wait it out and see if more windows updates makes it more stable. I plan on upgrading to Ryzen 3000 so If anything I'll just suffer through it until then. Thanks for the info!

MS has been very slow on updates recently. IMO the best solution is backup all your files and reinstall, easiest way to do a clean rollback.

Spoiler

If anybody points out the built in utility to roll back updates ignore them. It never works, isn't a clean roll back, and literally does ~10% of what it claims. You do not keep your data after a roll back unless the gods favor you.

Yeah If it happens more and more I'll end up reinstalling. It only happens maybe once every couple days. Thanks for the information though!
