Powerline adapter questions

Khoomn

So I am getting powerline adapters because Wifi 2.4ghz is getting on my nerves. Parents won't do direct ethernet because my router is in the basement and my pc is on the top floor so I am doing powerline adapters. I was suggested to get the Netgear Powerline 1000 and a Cat 5a Ethernet cable for them. Just wanted to know if it is necessary to have them both plugged into the same electrical circuit. My house was built in 1990 so I think powerline adapters shouldn't be a big issue but there always is that maybe.

Don’t have to be in the same circuit, but for best results the circuits should be on the same phase.

Looking to buy GTX690, other multi-GPU cards, or single-slot graphics cards:

i once heard that you can even share internet with people on other house if they have a powerline unit with the same encryption, the signal can travel alot it seems!
