so im looking around and i was wondering if someone knew of an adapter to where i can connect a sata drive to usb. i know theres alot of them but most of them are for pluging in drives directly and have both sata and power connector in one. but i only need the sata data connector since im using a hot swap drive cage.

in a perfect world connecting both drives via sata to an adapter and pluging in a single usb would be perfect. but ill take anything that doesnt include the power connctor on the drive side.

anyone any ideas?

only problem is plugging this in blocks off 3 other usb ports. i guess i could get short extensions
but i just thought maybe someone knew of a better solution.

It's called a USB HUB ...

it splits one port into multiple ports.

Also you could just pop open the plastic case of those things, and maybe then you can place them closer together. Just wrap them in electrical tape / kapton tape so they won't touch each other, or short something and problem solved.

yeah probably gonna go with a super slim usb hub and 2 of those adapters.

thank you that is exactly what i thought of at first.

but by now i think i found a better solution for my problem

so my board has a usb c conector on the back that im not using anyway

so a usb c hub would give me 10Gbit/s for all connector devices to share.

usb 3 is 5Gbit/s

so connecting 2 usb 3 to sata adapters would split that perfectly and 5 GBIT/s i would consider to be close enought to the 6Gbit/s sata speed.
