Upgrade the CPU first. FX series is getting quite old and the performance increase to Ryzen is huge. You will need a new motherboard and new DDR4 RAM.

The RX480 is okay, and you should still get pretty decent 1080p performance in most games. You could keep that for now and upgrade later. It would kinda be a waste to buy an RTX series graphics card with your current AMD FX series CPU.

CPU: Intel i7 6700k  | Motherboard: Gigabyte Z170x Gaming 5 | RAM: 2x16GB 3000MHz Corsair Vengeance LPX | GPU: Gigabyte Aorus GTX 1080ti | PSU: Corsair RM750x (2018) | Case: BeQuiet SilentBase 800 | Cooler: Arctic Freezer 34 eSports | SSD: Samsung 970 Evo 500GB + Samsung 840 500GB + Crucial MX500 2TB | Monitor: Acer Predator XB271HU + Samsung BX2450

If it's just gaming I'd save the money and go with the Ryzen 5 3600 instead. They perform fairly similarly in games. The Ryzen 7 3700/x gives benefit in tasks that can take advantage of the extra cores.

Is more ram better or faster from what ive read ryzen likes to have faster ram

16GB is pretty much the go-to these days, unless you're doing work that will require more. Faster is better. Preferably 3000MHz or higher.
