I'm looking to update the GPU in my system. The system specs are

Intel Core i7 5820K

Asus X99-A motherboard

32GB DDR4 memory

NVICIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB

Using the above with a Acer Predator X34P so GSYNC would be good.

Would it be worth updating the GPU in this system or are there other bottlenecks.

Assuming your CPU is overclocked, you'll be fine.

I'd either get a used 1080ti or a 2070/2080.

its fine tho

1440p ultrawide with a GTX 1060? I wouldn't call that fine if they're gaming.

It would definitely be worth upgrading. A 2070 Super would be a good option, it is near 1080ti performance for $500, so it's the best option considering you have GSYNC.

Just checked my PSU and its a 550W supply. Will this be good enough for a 2070 Super.

Looking at the specs for some of them they recommend a 650W supply.

Also the power cables are 6pin +2 pin, one is used the other isn't. The cards I've looked at all have 2 8pin sockets, I assume the 6pin + 2pin version I have will work without issue with the new cards.

Id run the specs through pc part picker. It should show you how much power you actually need. These new cards are efficient compared to ones from a few years ago.

a 6+2 connecter = an 8 pin connector and should fit in. you just shove the 2 next to the 6 .... 6+2 = 8           ?

AMD Ryzen 3950x under a Noctua D15S, 32 Gb G Skill FlareX 3200 DDR4 running at 3200 CL14, Gigabyte Aorus Pro 570 Wifi, Gigabyte 2070 Super hooked to a Dell U2718Q 4k HDR monitor & an Acer 1440p 144hz IPS panel of some kind, an Inland 1 TB M.2 PCIE 4 main drive, a Samsung NVME M.2 250Gb, WD Blue 500Gb  and 1 TB SSDs, Corsair RMX750, Rainbows and butterflies...

Never thought of that, says there shouldn't be a problem. :)
